Two breweries. One pFreal IPA.

pFreal is what happens when two breweries that genuinely respect each other decide to stop talking about making a beer together and actually do it.

Hood River, Oregon and Paso Robles, California are about 900 miles apart. Different climates, different landscapes, different brewing cultures. But pFriem Family Brewers and Firestone Walker have always had more in common than geography would suggest. A commitment to craft, a serious approach to ingredients, and a shared belief that collaboration between breweries produces something better than either could do alone.

pFreal is the result of that belief put into practice. A West Coast IPA built around some of the best raw materials either brewery has access to, brewed to celebrate the Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival and everything the fest has always stood for: bringing great breweries together in one place and letting the beer speak for itself.

The name says it simply. This one is for real.

Built on legendary hops and a malt nobody else has.

Every ingredient in pFreal was chosen with intention. The malt came out of a partnership. The hops came from one of the most respected farms in the Pacific Northwest. Together they make a West Coast IPA that’s clean, tropical, and built to stand up to anything else on the shelf.

pFreal uses “Too-Thee” Malt, developed by Rahr in partnership with pFriem. An innovative malt that gives pFreal its foundation without getting in the way of the hops.

On the bittering side, pFreal uses Mosaic hops sourced from the legendary Coleman Hop Farm, one of the most sought-after growing operations in the Pacific Northwest. Brings the tropical complexity that defines this beer.

The can art ties directly to the Invitational, created by talented artist Josh Noom. pFreal was born out of the spirit of the festival and it wears that connection proudly.

Why the Invitational and why now?

The Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival has always been about one thing: putting great beers in the same room and letting people decide for themselves. We invite breweries we respect, and we don’t ask them to water anything down for the crowd.

pFriem has been part of that conversation for a long time. When the idea came up to make a collab beer tied to the Invitational, it felt less like a business decision and more like something that had been waiting to happen.
